What’s the plan?
In spring 2020, I’ll set off to paddle 100 miles as the crow flies across the English Channel, from Dorset’s Jurassic Coast to Jersey in the Channel Islands.
Leaving the mainland west of the Isle of Wight, I’ll paddle a route 4 times further than the traditional easterly Dover to Calais crossing. Dodging huge shipping containers and leisure boats alike, I’ll cross the busiest shipping area in the world on a 13 foot paddle board.
Being swept left and right as the tides ebb and flow over the 48 hours it’ll take to cross, this will be at least twice as long as my crossing of the Irish Sea in 2018.
All in search of an island adventure. Having never been to the Channel Islands before I can’t wait to explore Jersey; it’s rich history, stunning scenery and enticing culture, there will be plenty of adventures to be had once I arrive.

Follow me live
The exact date I set off is very much weather dependent, as it was for SUP Britain. Following the forecast closely in April 2020, I’ll need at least 2 days of clear weather confirmed before I can make the call to set off.
Once I leave solid land you’ll be able to follow the adventure every paddle stroke of the way. I’ll have a live tracker map so the public can follow the wobbly line I create as I cross the Channel.
I’ll also have a photographer/videographer with me capturing the daring adventure from the support boat and with a drone. From leaving land and dealing with swell, wind and tides, to showing the reality of how I’m holding up during the rest breaks, shattered and cold, and the euphoria of making land on Jersey’s shore.
Once in Jersey I’ll add my top adventure hot spots to the map, and of course, the best cake spots!

“I’m still scared of the sea, even after paddle boarding crossing the Irish Sea, en route from Lands End to John O’Groats. The fear’s still there. But now I know it’s worth it. The challenge, the beautiful scenery, discovering our islands from the water is addictive.
Oh and the dolphins, I do hope there are dolphins!”
Get Involved
I’m excited to explore and put this region on the map - literally.
This adventure is an incredibly unique opportunity to have hundreds of thousands of people looking at a map to find out where I’m paddling, from the Dorset coast to the Channel Islands.
My SUP LEJOG adventure in 2018 gained a reach of over 2.5 million across my own social media channels during the expedition, in print and online, and on ITV West County, several BBC Radio stations, BBC Sport and BBC Breakfast.

Previous Expedition
In 2018 Fiona set 3 world records when she stand up paddleboarded (SUP) the length of Britain. Over 81 days she battled a fear of the sea to cover 800 miles up the west coast, greeting creatures from the deep as she paddled over the Irish Sea and fighting past the deadly Corryvreckan whirlpool in Scotland.
She became the first woman to SUP across the Irish Sea and the first person to SUP the length of Britain on an inflatable board.
This expedition, added to her walk and cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats the year before, makes Fiona the first woman in history to complete a length of Britain Triathlon.
